Regardless of what security professionals do to motivate personal users adopt technologies volitionally, the end result seems be same—low adoption rates. To increase these rates, we propose activating their positive psychological capital (PsyCap), which consists hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism (i.e., “HERO within”). We that greater PsyCap toward a technology is associated with rates (and intentions thereof) because positivity increases motivation. further posit both moderates moderated by other constructs. suggest users’ conditioned fear from threat effect on some necessary activate form behavioral technologies. hypothesize actual an individual’s HERO within encourages individuals exert effort translate into adoption.
